The objective is therefore to design a system in such a way as to prevent as many breakdowns as possible and control them when they do occur.<\/p>\r\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-6\">\r\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner \">\r\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\r\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n<p><span>Breakdowns may occur for a number of different factors:<\/span><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li>Software errors,<\/li>\r\n<li>Human error,<\/li>\r\n<li>Environmental intelligence,<\/li>\r\n<li>Random breakdown of equipment mechanisms<\/li>\r\n<li>Etc\u2026<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<p>Operational safety therefore depends on the proper operations of a global system or equipment in response to system or equipment entries.<\/p>\r\n<p><span>For this reason, standard\u00a0<strong>IEC 61508<\/strong>\u00a0was created.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h3 class=\"st-heading-title\"><span class=\"heading-text\"> THE IEC 61508 STANDARD<\/span><\/h3>\r\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\r\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n<p><span>Titled\u00a0<em>Functional Safety of Electrical\/Electronic\/Programmable Electronic Safety-related Systems<\/em>, it includes the necessary and sufficient requirements to minimize these breakdowns.\u00a0All the phases of the equipment and software lifecycle (from the conceptualization through to the design, installation, operations, maintenance and final disposal) are involved.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<ul>\r\n<li><span>IEC 61508 was approved by CENELEC as a European Standard (ES)<\/span><\/li>\r\n<li><span>Standard IEC 61508 \u00a0presents a generic approach to all activities related to the lifecycle (from the creation to the disposal of the system) of the electrical-electronic-programmable electronic (E\/E\/PE) elements that are used to realize safety features.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<h3 class=\"st-heading-title\"><span class=\"heading-text\"> 50126, 50129, 50128 : STANDARDS DERIVED FROM THE IEC 61508<\/span><\/h3>\r\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\r\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n<p><span>Standards derived from the IEC 61508 include, for example, standards for industrial processes (IEC 61511), the nuclear sector (IEC61513), machine safety (IEC 62061 and ISO 13849) or railway industry (EN 50126\/EN 50128 \/EN 50129).<\/span><\/p>\r\n<p><span>In this area, the EN 5012x standards are based on system life cycle and were written to fit the requirements of IEC 61508 generic standard constraints in this sector. Compliance with the requirements of the EN 5012x standards is sufficient to ensure compliance with the IEC61508 standard without necessitating any further evaluation.<\/span><\/p>\r\n<h2 class=\"st-heading-title\"><span class=\"heading-text\"> SIL or Security Integrity Level<\/span><\/h2>\r\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-6\">\r\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner \">\r\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\r\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\r\n<p>The SIL or\u00a0<strong>Security Integrity Level<\/strong>\u00a0is a level of safety integrity. The SIL notion results directly from the IEC 61508 standard.
