The power management system for the 3 sections of the T12 tramway line requires a SIL3 safety level according to EN5012x. To achieve this, a SIL3-certified Siemens S7 PLC is used. CLEARSY’s expertise was called upon for the safety aspects and software validation.
The software includes the following functions:
- Power supply interruption between two substations (SSIL0), with safe feedback (SSIL3)
- Non-secure management of section power supply in the event of a substation fault (SSIL0)
- Emergency disconnection of line traction current, safety function (SSIL3)
- Communication with supervision, non-safety function (SSIL0)
On this type of project, the assessor pays particular attention to documentation and processes. In addition to EN5012x standards, ISO9001 is also verified.
CLEARSY’s mission consisted in producing the validation and safety plans and reports (including the analysis), consolidating the approach to all software and verification activities, and finally defending the project in front of the assessor.
The T12 tram-train will link Massy to Évry-Courcouronnes. Its 16 stations will serve 12 towns and numerous urban projects.
The T12 tram-train will be able to run on both national railway tracks between Massy and Épinay-sur-Orge, and urban tramway tracks between Épinay-sur-Orge and Évry-Courcouronnes. When it enters service, it will replace the RER C between Massy and Petit Vaux stations.
