Several light rail projects, such as ECOTRAIN, unveiled at the end of 2025, are emerging. In this context, CLEARSY innovates and designs safety systems adapted to these new shuttles.
Based on the observation that it is essential for these trains to have a reliable and fast communication network, CLEARSY is behind a latest-generation communication system between the track and the train.
It is independent of communication system operators and also functions in tunnels.
On the track, a radiating cable provides two-way Wi-Fi communication with the train, with the system implementing the latest Wi-Fi 6E and Wi-Fi 7 protocols.
Communication speeds of over 1Gb/s have been verified, enabling the coexistence of:
- A high-speed ‘public’ network for train passengers
- A private network for transmitting security information
Seamless, all-weather communication with the train is a decisive advantage when considering the introduction of autonomous shuttles.
Supported by France2030 via ADEME, the @ECOTRAIN shuttle was designed by Philippe BOURGUIGNON and developed by a 100% French consortium (Groupe Stratiforme-Compreforme -Technoforme, Socofer France, Syntony GNSS, CLEARSY, IMT Nord Europe, IMT Mines Albi).
