The temporary signalling server (GEST) is ready for deployment

The temporary signalling server (GEST) is ready for deployment!
11 September 2026

One of the components of the ARGOS ERTMS Level 2 trackside signalling system, developed by Compagnie des Signaux – CSEE, is the temporary signalling server (GEST).

The GEST enables temporary restrictions to be safely implemented and removed on the tracks, in particular Temporary Speed Restrictions (TSRs) or special conditions relating to the railway infrastructure. As this information is taken into account by the signalling system, its management must meet SIL 2 safety requirements.

Following an initial version certified in 2025, CLEARSY has developed a major new version of the GEST, incorporating new features whilst maintaining the required safety level. This update has now, in turn, obtained its SIL2 certification. This new version will be rolled out in France for SNCF Réseau.
