The Temporary Signalling Management Server (GEST) for Morocco

The Temporary Signalling Management Server (GEST) for Morocco
20 October 2026

One of the components of the ERTMS Level 2 trackside signalling system, developed by COMPAGNIE DES SIGNAUX – CSEE for the Kenitra–Marrakech high-speed line, is the Temporary Signalling Management Server (GEST).

The GEST enables temporary restrictions on the tracks, in particular Temporary Speed Restrictions (TSRs), to be set and removed safely. As this information is taken into account by the signalling system, its management must comply with SIL2 safety requirements in accordance with the CENELEC EN 50716 standard.

Following a certified version in 2026 for the Marseille–Ventimiglia project, CSEE commissioned CLEARSY to develop a new version of the GEST tailored to the Moroccan project, incorporating new features whilst maintaining the required safety level. This new version will be deployed for the National Railways Office (ONCF).
